The John W. Draper Interdisciplinary Master’s Program in Humanities and Social Thought invites applications for two positions as Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow in the areas of Art Worlds and The City, pending budgetary and administrative approval. The initial one-year appointment begins September 2014 and is renewable annually for a maximum of three years. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching three courses a year, supervising theses, advising students, and participating in Program events. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and excellence in teaching, and have completed the Ph.D. no more than three years before the application date.
Art Worlds: We seek an outstanding interdisciplinary scholar with a strong background in the analysis of visual culture who is also skilled in anthropological, sociological, or other social scientific approaches to art worlds.
The City: We seek an outstanding interdisciplinary scholar with training in urban anthropology and/or sociology, urban environmental geography, cultural geography, social demography, and/or urban policy and planning. Global environmental, political, and/or historical perspectives, with particular emphasis on questions of sustainability, power, social space, and the politics of difference, are especially welcome.
