SACRPH is pleased to announce that Andrew H. Whittemore is the new Co-Editor of the Journal of Planning History. Andrew is Associate Professor of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he specializes in urban form, planning history, planning theory, land use planning, and zoning.
Andrew, however, is not new to JPH, having previously served as Book Review Editor. With his change in role, the journal is seeking a replacement.
JPH is looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
Please see the following call from Andrew:
The Journal of Planning History is seeking a new Book Review Editor. The duties of the book review editor are pretty simple:
You will hear from publishers – or you can get in touch with publishers – about books that could be reviewed in the journal. The publisher will send you a copy of the book to send to a reviewer. Once a reviewer has a draft you work with them to edit it as necessary. Reviews do not go out for peer review. Once a review is completed, the reviewer submits it and the Book Review Editor sends it right through to copy editing.
Why be the Book Review Editor? Because you love SACRPH! It’s also an excellent way to gain more familiarity with what’s being published in our field. Especially if you’re in the process of developing your own book manuscript, it can be very useful to see the many ways authors approach planning history, and to hear from reviewers about what they think!
Please contact Andrew if you are interested or have any questions: awhittem[at]email.unc.edu.
