The passing of our friend, colleague, and SACRPH Board member, Dr. Angel David Nieves in December, 2023 came as an immense professional loss. For many of us, it was also deeply personal. SACRPH will be honoring Dr. Nieves’s legacy and intellectual practice during our 20th Biennial Conference in San Diego, CA.
We invite you to join us for a lunchtime roundtable honoring Angel David Nieves’s vast contributions to our field, where we will engage the impact of his work–past, present, and future–through the scholarship and scholars that he and his work inspired. The roundtable will take place at the University of California, San Diego, on Saturday, October 21st, from 12:00 p.m.–1:45 p.m., in lieu of our customary Presidential Address. (The Presidential Address has been re-scheduled as the kickoff event to our virtual sessions on October 19th.) This special roundtable will spotlight Dr. Nieves’s transformative practices in pedagogy, as well as in the fields of Planning and Preservation, Ethnic Studies, Africana Studies, and Digital Humanities.
